oil painting on canvas. This is Barnabas, pre-curse, on his bucolic estate, Collinwood, in his blithe existence before his fateful encounters with Josette and Angelique. This painting is a pendant to BARNABAS MOONLIT; I painted both paintings at the same time, photographed them and loaded each as a layer into Photoshop, lined up so that Barnabas' metamorphosis can occur upon command. This was my favorite TV show as a pre-teen, so this is a blast to join in the entries. I'm sure the movie will be as wonderful as all of Mr. Burton's, Ms. Bonham-Carter's and Mr. Depp's other work. Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing all of the fantastic work.
You have done masterful things, here. His hair is reminiscent of the Emperor Augustus style worn by Frid's Barnabas. The facial features are colored and outlined in such a manner as to recall Impressionism with its deference to sunlit moments. His Garrick coat is painted in the hasty, outdoor sketchiness of an itinerant painter come to call upon Mr. Collins. The pastel sky and hazy glimpse of Collinwood's towers and spires, give this a wonderfully olden air. The trees are in the manner of Constable and Turner. All of these artistic styles come together in a rich and complex manner, and make for a far better interpretation of Depp's pre-vampire Barnabas than that which hung over the fireplace mantle at Collinwood.
Good luck to you!
